Jeff Kinney is an American author, cartoonist, and game designer best known for his popular children's book series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Born in 1971 in Maryland, Kinney attended the University of Maryland and later moved to Massachusetts to pursue a career in cartooning. He started his career as a game designer, creating the popular online game Poptropica. In 2004, Kinney began working on Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which was originally published online as a webcomic before being released as a print book in 2007. The series has since become a global phenomenon, with over 200 million copies sold in over 70 languages. Kinney has won numerous awards for his work, including the Children's Choice Book Award and the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award. He continues to write and illustrate books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, with Hot Mess being the latest addition.
