James Dean is an American author and illustrator best known for his work on the popular children's book series, Pete the Cat. Growing up in Fort Payne, Alabama, Dean was always interested in art and storytelling. He attended the Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida, where he honed his skills as an artist and illustrator. After graduation, Dean moved to Atlanta where he worked as an artist and designer before eventually pursuing a career in children's books. In 2008, he joined forces with his wife, Kimberly, to create the lovable and adventurous character, Pete the Cat. Together, they have published numerous books in the series, including Pete the Cat: Scaredy Cat!: A Halloween Book for Kids (I Can Read Level 1). Their books have become bestsellers and have won multiple awards, making James and Kimberly Dean beloved figures in the world of children's literature.
