She grew up in a small town in the Midwest, where her love for drawing and writing was fostered by her supportive family. After studying art and literature in college, Jonell pursued a career in publishing, working as an editor and graphic designer for several years before deciding to focus on her own writing and illustrations. Her debut book, How Do I Draw These Memories?: An Illustrated Memoir, combines her love for both mediums and showcases her unique and heartfelt perspective on life.
