Kelly Starling Lyons is a highly acclaimed author, educator, and speaker who has written over a dozen books for children, including the popular Ty's Travels series. She has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Coretta Scott King Honor, the Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award, and the Charlotte Zolotow Award. Lyons is also a founding member of the Brown Bookshelf, a blog dedicated to promoting the work of African American children's book authors and illustrators.
