As a child, she loved reading and writing stories, and her passion for storytelling led her to pursue a degree in creative writing from the University of California, Los Angeles. Lyla is also a graduate of the Clarion West Writers Workshop and has worked in various industries, including entertainment and education. She is the author of the Mindy Kim series, which aims to celebrate the experiences of young Korean-American girls.
