Jeanne Birdsall is an American author best known for her children's book series, The Penderwicks. She was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up surrounded by books and stories. Birdsall attended Mount Holyoke College and later worked as a librarian and children's book reviewer. Her love for children's literature and storytelling led her to write The Penderwicks series, which has won numerous awards and captivated young readers all over the world. Today, Birdsall continues to live and write in Northampton, Massachusetts.
