Heidi E. Y. Stemple is an award-winning author who has written over 30 books for children, including picture books, nonfiction, and poetry. Her writing focuses on exploring nature and animals, and she often incorporates her love for science and research into her work. Stemple has a Master's degree in literature and has taught creative writing at the college level. She is also the daughter of the beloved author Jane Yolen, and they have collaborated on several books together. In addition to writing, Stemple also enjoys birdwatching, hiking, and spending time with her family. She currently resides in western Massachusetts with her husband and their three children.
