Originally from Rhode Island, she graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in illustration. Her love for storytelling and art led her to pursue a career in children's literature. Her debut picture book, Jabari Tries, received widespread acclaim for its heartwarming story and beautiful illustrations. Gaia's work is inspired by her own experiences growing up in a multicultural family and her desire to showcase the beauty of different cultures and backgrounds.
