Lane Smith is an American author and illustrator known for his whimsical and imaginative children's books. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1959, Smith developed a love for drawing and storytelling at a young age. He studied illustration at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California and began his career as an illustrator for various magazines and newspapers. In 1990, he wrote and illustrated his first children's book, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, which became a New York Times Bestseller. Since then, Smith has written and illustrated numerous award-winning books, including Stickler Loves the World (A Stickler Story), which celebrates the joy of exploration and discovery.
