James Dashner is an American author best known for his young adult science fiction and fantasy novels. Born in Georgia in 1972, he grew up in a military family and lived in various states including Utah and Florida. Dashner studied accounting at Brigham Young University but eventually turned to writing, publishing his first novel, A Door in the Woods, in 2003. He gained widespread recognition with his Maze Runner series, which has been adapted into a successful film franchise.
