Westerfeld attended Vassar College and graduated with a degree in philosophy. After working various jobs in the entertainment industry, he began writing full-time in the late 1990s. He has published over 20 books, including the popular Uglies series, which has been translated into over 30 languages and sold millions of copies worldwide.
