The bookstore crawl ran from June 1st - August 31st, 2026. We'll be back in 2027 with more but for now, read about the winner's experiences on the crawl below!
2026 Grand Prize Winner: Heaven!
In 2025, I found out about the book crawl at the very end of summer and was so sad to miss it! So this year, I was happy to have gotten my passport in May and was ready to go!
I like to consider myself a very bookish person, thinking I’d visited most indie bookstores in the Valley, but color me surprised when I saw half the stores on the crawl and didn’t recognize them. It made it a super fun experience to visit new places and see the vibes of all of the vastly different stores around the area!
It was also fun to go to them with my partner, planning our weekends and weeks around when we’d be able to visit certain bookstores—sometimes even more than one in a day if they were geographically close. Not only was it a great way to explore the Valley in general, it was so fun and rewarding to visit and support so many local places.

How It Works
Visit 10+ bookstores to be entered into the Grand Prize drawing to win $800 in bookstore gift cards (one winner)
Visit 4+ bookstores to be entered into a prize drawing to win a $25 gift card (or equivalent prize) to one of the stores on the crawl (16 winners)
Each additional bookstore you visit is another entry into the drawing! (The more bookstores you visit, the greater your chances of winning.)
*Passports can be turned in at any of the participating bookstores.*
The winners will be announced on Tuesday, September 15th

A Note About Size & Structure
The Pioneer Valley Bookstore Crawl first launched in 2025 with 7 bookstores, sparked by a conversation that started among a few of us at a regional bookseller conference. Adding more bookstores was the biggest piece of feedback we received from the first year but we also heard from a lot of participants that they liked being able to complete it in one day or weekend. In order to juggle both of these asks (and to keep the barriers to participation low), we revised the structure of the bookstore crawl to add different prize tiers and expanded the number of participating bookstores to 16 to include the bookstores that were most requested in year one. If there are any specific bookstores you’d like to see involved in the future or if you have any other feedback about the crawl, please send us an email at hello@highfivebooks.org so we can see what valley residents are looking for when we begin planning next year (a process which starts in January). Our intention is that the bookstore crawl will grow sustainably each year and become a longstanding tradition in the valley. Any way you’re able to support this year would be very appreciated and will help us continue to improve and expand!
