Sonya's Chickens
Sonya raises her three chickens from the time they are tiny chicks. She feeds them, shelters them and loves them. Everywhere Sonya goes, her chicks are peeping at her heels. Under her care, the chicks grow into hens and even give Sonya a wonderful gift: an egg! One night, Sonya hears noises coming from the chicken coop and discovers that one of her hens has disappeared. Where did the hen go? What happened to her? When Sonya discovers the answers, she learns some important truths about the interconnectedness of nature and the true joys and sorrows of caring for another creature.

Phoebe Wahl is an American author and illustrator known for her vivid and whimsical artwork. She grew up in rural New England and spent much of her childhood exploring the outdoors and fostering a love for nature. After studying illustration at Rhode Island School of Design, Wahl began her career as a freelance illustrator, working on various projects such as book covers, editorial illustrations, and greeting cards. Her passion for storytelling and illustration led her to write and illustrate her own books, with a focus on themes of nature, family, and community. Wahl's debut picture book, Sonya's Chickens, has received numerous accolades and has been translated into multiple languages. She currently resides in Washington State, where she continues to create beautiful and heartfelt stories through her illustrations.
