She was born in California and grew up in a multi-cultural household, with a Japanese father and an American mother. This diverse upbringing inspired her to write stories that celebrate and explore different cultures and traditions. Florence has a degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley and worked in education before pursuing her passion for writing. She currently lives in Connecticut with her family and enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and trying new foods. Her books have been praised for their relatable characters, heartwarming themes, and engaging storytelling.
