Jeff Kinney is an American author, cartoonist, and game designer, best known for his wildly popular children's book series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Born in 1971 in Maryland, Kinney showed an early interest in drawing and storytelling. He studied at the University of Maryland before moving to New England to pursue a career in game design. It was during this time that he came up with the idea for Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which he originally published online before it was picked up by a publishing company in 2007. Since then, the series has become a global phenomenon, selling over 200 million copies and being translated into more than 70 languages. Kinney continues to write and illustrate the series, captivating young readers with his relatable characters and humorous storytelling.
