David LaRochelle is an award-winning author and illustrator who has written over 30 books for young readers. He grew up in Minnesota and received a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Minnesota. LaRochelle has always had a passion for storytelling and has worked as a creative director, video producer, and teacher before becoming a full-time author and illustrator. His books have been praised for their humor and heart, and he has won numerous awards, including the Sid Fleischman Humor Award and the Minnesota Book Award. LaRochelle currently lives in White Bear Lake, Minnesota with his husband and their two dogs. He enjoys biking, traveling, and spending time with his family. Mike Wohnoutka is the illustrator of How to Apologize, and he has also illustrated several other children's books. He studied illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2002. Wohnoutka's illustrations have been praised for their warmth and humor, and he has won numerous awards, including the Minnesota Book Award and the Charlotte Zolotow Award. He currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his wife and two children. In his free time, Wohnoutka enjoys playing guitar and spending time outdoors.
