Stacey Abrams is a renowned American politician, lawyer, and author. Born in Wisconsin in 1973, she spent most of her childhood in Mississippi before attending college at Spelman and Yale Law School. After working as a tax attorney, Abrams entered politics and made history in 2010 by becoming the first woman to lead a major party in the Georgia General Assembly. She has since become a prominent figure in the Democratic Party, running for governor of Georgia in 2018 and delivering the Democratic response to the State of the Union address in 2019. In addition to her political career, Abrams is also a prolific author, having written several books including the best-selling memoir "Lead from the Outside" and "Our Time is Now: Power, Purpose, and the Fight for a Fair America." Her latest book, "Stacey Speaks Up," is a powerful and timely collection of speeches and essays on social justice, democracy, and leadership.
