2025 Winner: Simone!
Simone's story: "What started as a quick stop at Book Moon turned into the best birthday surprise for my dad: a full Pioneer Valley Bookstore Crawl adventure.
I met my parents at Atkins Farms as a ruse, then surprised them with the passports at the Eric Carle Museum Bookstore, where we found baby books and a Hungry Caterpillar onesie for my soon-to-arrive nibling in Australia. Then on to Odyssey (his favorite) and Amherst Books before dinner. We found countless fantastic books, many more were put on wishlists, and we ended the day with a moving Iris DeMent show at the Shea. It was an incredible day.
The next weekend, determined to get all our stamps, we made our way from Booklink to Broadside to High Five before finishing at Book Moon. We met many kind booksellers and shared our incoming first grandbaby and birthday book crawl story, and the booksellers’ joy made it feel even more special. I'm headed to Australia soon to be there for baby's arrival with books in tow from all around the Valley!
A few days later, shortly after driving behind a car with a High Five Books bumper sticker, I got the call: I had won! I can’t wait to surprise my dad with the gift certificates and share in the book bounty with my community. Huge gratitude to the organizers- I feel very lucky to live here with so many rad bookstores who support Palestine, and still can't believe I won.
This adventure was such a joyful way to celebrate, discover amazing new books, support local shops and it gave us a sweet story (and books!) that will travel with our family across continents."
