She was born in Austin, Texas and began drawing at a young age, eventually attending the Center for Cartoon Studies in Vermont. At just 23 years old, she has already published numerous works, including the Eisner Award-winning graphic memoir "Spinning" and the sci-fi graphic novel "On a Sunbeam".
