Jeff Kinney is an American author and cartoonist, best known for his widely popular children's book series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Born in 1971 in Maryland, Kinney spent his childhood in Fort Washington, where he attended the University of Maryland for his undergraduate degree. After graduation, he worked as a computer game designer and eventually began writing and drawing the first book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. The series has since become a global phenomenon, with over 250 million copies sold in 65 languages. Kinney is also the creator of the website Poptropica, which has become one of the most popular virtual worlds for kids. He continues to write and illustrate books in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, as well as other children's books and comics.
