Jeff Kinney is an American author and cartoonist best known for his popular book series, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." Born in 1971, Kinney grew up in Maryland and attended the University of Maryland where he studied computer science. After college, he started working as a game designer and created an online comic strip called "Igdoof" which eventually evolved into "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." The first book in the series was published in 2007 and became an instant hit, spawning multiple sequels and a successful film franchise. Kinney's unique blend of humor and relatable characters has made him a beloved children's author and his books have been translated into over 60 languages. He continues to write and illustrate the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, as well as other children's books and graphic novels.
