Dav Pilkey is an American author and illustrator best known for his popular children's book series, Captain Underpants and Dog Man. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Pilkey struggled with dyslexia and ADHD as a child, which inspired him to create stories and comics to entertain himself and his classmates. He began writing and illustrating books in elementary school and continued to pursue his passion for drawing and storytelling throughout his education. After working as a book designer and illustrator, Pilkey's big break came in 1997 with the publication of Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants, which became an instant hit. His works have since been translated into dozens of languages and have sold millions of copies worldwide, making him one of the most beloved and successful children's authors of all time.
