Claribel A. Ortega is a Dominican-American author and journalist who hails from New York City. She received her BA in English literature from Marymount Manhattan College and her MFA in creative writing from The New School. Ortega's writing often incorporates elements of her Dominican culture and explores themes of family, identity, and magic. In addition to being an author, she has worked as a reporter and editor for various publications. Ghost Squad is her debut middle grade novel, inspired by her own childhood experiences with ghosts and her love for all things spooky. Ortega currently resides in New York with her partner and pet rabbit.
