Jake Maia Arlow is a multi-talented writer, performer, and educator based in New York City. With a background in poetry and theater, Arlow's work often explores themes of identity, queerness, and mental health. Their writing has been featured in various publications, including The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and Tin House. Arlow is also a founding member of the performance collective Poetic Theater Productions and has performed their work at venues such as Joe's Pub and The Public Theater. Aside from their writing and performance career, Arlow is also a dedicated educator, teaching workshops on writing and performance for various organizations. How to Excavate a Heart is their debut collection of poetry.
