James Dean is an American author and illustrator, best known for his work on the popular children's book series, Pete the Cat. Born in 1957 in Fort Payne, Alabama, Dean showed a passion for art from a young age and went on to study at the University of Auburn. After working in the corporate world for several years, Dean decided to pursue his dream of becoming a children's book author and illustrator. His first book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, was self-published in 2008 and went on to become a New York Times bestseller. Since then, Dean has written and illustrated numerous books in the Pete the Cat series, inspiring children with his colorful and fun illustrations and positive messages.
