Kelly Starling Lyons is an award-winning author who has written numerous books for children, including the popular "Ty's Travels" series. She has a passion for children's literature and has been recognized for her diverse and engaging storytelling. Her writing often focuses on celebrating the joy of childhood and highlighting the accomplishments of Black and Brown children. Lyon's work has received critical acclaim and garnered several awards, including the Coretta Scott King Author Honor and the Ezra Jack Keats New Writer Award. She is also a founding member of the Brown Bookshelf, a website dedicated to promoting Black children's literature. Lyons resides in North Carolina with her family.
