Grace Lin is an award-winning author and illustrator of children's books. She was born in New York City and grew up in upstate New York. Lin's parents immigrated to the United States from Taiwan, and their cultural heritage has greatly influenced her work. She studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design and has since published over 20 books, including the Newbery Honor book Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and its companion novel Starry River of the Sky. Lin's books often explore themes of family, identity, and Chinese folklore, and have been translated into multiple languages. She currently lives in Massachusetts with her husband and daughter.
